How to Calculate BMI
BMI is calculated using the following formula:
BMI = Weight (kg) ÷ Height² (m²)
For example:
Weight = 70 kg
Height = 1.75 m
BMI = 70 ÷ (1.75 × 1.75)
BMI = 22.9
This falls within the Normal Weight category.
Is BMI Accurate?
BMI is a useful screening tool but does not directly measure body fat percentage.
Factors such as muscle mass, age, gender, and body composition can affect BMI results. Athletes and highly muscular individuals may have a higher BMI despite having low body fat levels.
Tips for Maintaining a Healthy BMI
Follow a balanced diet
Stay physically active
Drink enough water daily
Get adequate sleep
Monitor your weight regularly
